OAXACA DE JUÁREZ, OAX. — In less than 48 hours following a high-profile escape, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Oaxaca achieved the immediate recapture of A. J. E. J., commercially known by the alias “El Fresa”, who had recently evaded justice in the jurisdiction of San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico.
The successful apprehending resulted directly from comprehensive field search operations and intelligence efforts directly ordered by Attorney General José Bernardo Rodríguez Alamilla immediately after the prisoner's escape became known. The fugitive was localized and taken into custody while staying at a hotel located in the municipality of Villa de Tamazulápam del Progreso, situated within the Mixteca region of the state.
This coordinated task force involved field elements from multiple law enforcement levels, including:
- State Investigation Agency (AEI) of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Oaxaca
- Oaxaca State Police
- Federal Armed Forces
According to official reports, the inter-agency coordination across all three levels of government closed off potential escape routes and prevented the individual from establishing himself in another region. Following the arrest, which officers conducted with full respect for human rights, “El Fresa” was transferred under a heavily fortified security protocol to be placed at the disposal of the corresponding judicial authority.
The detainee, identified as Ángel de Jesús E. J., previously served as the operational chief of the Municipal Police of San Antonio de la Cal and has been linked to the ASAEO organizational structure. He had been apprehended during prior police operations; however, his subsequent escape in San Bartolo Coyotepec led to the immediate suspension of four officers belonging to the Tactical Operations Group, alongside the official opening of an investigation for prisoner evasion.
“No action that violates the law and public peace will remain unpunished,” stated institutional representatives, highlighting that the prompt reaction from state authorities proved essential to restoring the legal process in record time.
