CARTEL DEL NOROESTE MEMBERS HUMILIATE MEXICAN ARMY CABO IN TAMAULIPAS

CIUDAD MIER, Tamaulipas — A video recording circulated on social media platforms documenting an incident involving armed men wearing tactical gear who intercepted a vehicle in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas. According to local media reports, the victim of the event was identified as a corporal (cabo) serving in the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA).

The footage shows at least three individuals carrying long firearms surrounding a black pickup truck. The military element was traveling alongside a minor, reported to be his child, while two other men were located in the rear cargo bed of the vehicle during the encounter.

During the recorded interaction, one of the armed individuals deliberately punctured the tires of the black pickup truck. Subsequently, another member of the group requested a marker and approached the driver, proceeding to draw scribbles directly onto the face of the driver, who remained unable to resist the aggression.

Local reporting attributed the action to members of the Cártel del Noroeste. The event, which originally took place on September 22, 2022, was described as a retaliatory action following security operations conducted by federal authorities in the region.

Prior security operations in nearby Ciudad Guerrero, Tamaulipas, resulted in a direct confrontation between elements of the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA) and members of the Cártel del Noroeste, leading to the death of an armed gunman and the seizure of four armored vehicles, locally known as "monstruos."

The acts recorded in the video were reported as a direct response by the organized crime group following the loss of equipment and casualties during the aforementioned military engagement in Northern Mexico.
