CLANDESTINE HYDROCARBON CENTER LOCATED IN VILLAGRÁN; 12,000 LITERS OF FUEL AND STOLEN VEHICLES SEIZED

A property allegedly used for the illegal storage and transport of fuel was secured following a coordinated operation in the municipality of Villagrán, Guanajuato, carried out by elements of the Fuerzas de Seguridad Pública del Estado (FSPE) and the Guardia Nacional. Approximately 12,000 liters of hydrocarbon were recovered alongside extraction infrastructure and two vehicles with active theft reports, as reported by the Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato.

The inspection procedures took place along a dirt road located in the Arboledas neighborhood. At that location, authorities detected a tank truck and two underground cisterns buried in the earth that served as storage containers for the illicit product. Upon inspecting the immediate surroundings, personnel also seized two motor vehicles that showed active theft reports when cross-referenced in the database, along with two motor pumps used to facilitate the transfer of the fuel.

During the sweep, officers located a hose originating from the storage area. After tracing it for approximately 50 meters, authorities discovered an irregular connection coupled directly to a pipeline belonging to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex). Security forces noted the severe risks associated with these illicit perforations in energy infrastructure, warning that they represent a latent threat to nearby residents, their property, and the environment due to the constant danger of leaks, fires, or explosions.

"These joint actions are essential to safeguard the integrity of our communities and protect critical national infrastructure from criminal activities," local security analysts pointed out.

All recovered hydrocarbons, along with the tank truck, the retrieved automobiles, the cisterns, the pumping equipment, and the secured hose, were placed at the disposal of the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) delegation in the municipality of Celaya. The federal prosecutor's office will assume the corresponding investigations to build the case file and determine legal responsibilities.
