Federal security efforts in northwestern Mexico reached a milestone this week as naval personnel successfully completed two distinct enforcement actions in the southern part of Sinaloa. The operations, aimed at bolstering regional safety and deterring criminal activity, led to significant material seizures without reported confrontations.
The first intervention took place in the rural locality of Isla del Bosque, situated within the municipality of Escuinapa, Sinaloa, Mexico. During routine surveillance patrols, naval units discovered two abandoned motor vehicles. Upon inspecting the units, authorities recovered a cache of contraband.
According to the official incident reports, the Escuinapa seizure included:
- - Two firearms along with associated magazines and live ammunition
- - Four tactical vests designed for ballistic protection
- - Six independent ballistic plates
- - One tactical helmet
A subsequent operation unfolded further north in the coastal tourist hub of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Specifically concentrated along Gaviotas Avenue within the well-known Zona Dorada district, naval forces engaged in specialized patrolling under the framework of the ongoing regional security strategy.
During the Mazatlán sweep, personnel inspected a suspicious abandoned bag left near the public thoroughfare. Inside, inspectors cataloged illegal substances intended for distribution, comprising multiple doses of narcotics.
The confiscated narcotics inventory included:
- - Forty-eight individual packets containing white powder with characteristics matching cocaine
- - Quantities of processed marijuana
- - Several illicit pharmaceutical tablets
Following the secure collection of all items, the recovered weaponry, vehicles, and illicit substances were transported under secure guard. Authorities transferred the evidence to the custody of the federal Public Prosecutor's Office to initiate formal investigative files and determine legal responsibilities.
