Military authorities in Culiacán, Sinaloa, carried out the official destruction of over 600 confiscated firearms and more than 150,000 rounds of ammunition seized during operations targeting organized crime.

Military authorities executed a major action against illegal weaponry in Sinaloa, Mexico, by formally destroying a large batch of seized weapons and ammunition in Culiacán. The destroyed arsenal had been confiscated in various security operations directed against organized crime groups operating across the region.

The official destruction procedure took place at the facilities of the Ninth Military Zone (Novena Zona Militar) in Culiacán, where the following items were permanently rendered unusable:

  • 639 firearms
  • 3,303 firearm magazines
  • 153,065 rounds of ammunition of various calibers

During the official ceremony, Commander Julio César Islas Sánchez emphasized that these actions aim to disrupt the resupply capabilities of criminal organizations in order to protect the general public.

According to figures provided by military officials, the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA) has recorded the destruction of more than 2,500 firearms and over 750,000 rounds of ammunition in the state of Sinaloa so far this year. The confiscated items were cut and compacted as part of the standard protocol for handling seized armament.
