State authorities in Oaxaca successfully executed an arrest warrant against a suspect linked to a fatal shooting in Santa Catarina Loxicha following extensive ministerial investigations.

OAXACA DE JUÁREZ, OAXACA, MEXICO — As a result of thorough ministerial investigations, the General Prosecutor's Office of the State of Oaxaca executed a formal arrest warrant against an individual identified as R.R.M. The suspect faces probable responsibility for qualified homicide committed with a firearm in the coastal region of the state.

According to the official case file, the tragic incident took place on May 18, 2025. The victim, identified as J.M.G., was traveling alongside another person toward the rural community known as Nueva Luz, situated in the municipality of Santa Catarina Loxicha.

Investigators established that while navigating near a local riverbed, both travelers were intercepted by the alleged perpetrator. Witnesses indicated that the suspect brandished a firearm and launched an attack against the victim, inflicting fatal injuries.

Following the aggression, the assailant reportedly threatened the surviving witness before fleeing the scene toward an undisclosed location. Law enforcement agencies immediately launched coordinated intelligence and field operations to track down the suspect.

The Regional Vice-prosecution of the Coast spearheaded the investigative efforts, ultimately securing the judicial order from a local judge. Agents from the State Investigation Agency successfully executed the warrant while the suspect was located in the vicinity of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz.

Following the apprehension, R.R.M. was transferred and placed at the disposal of the corresponding ministerial authority to determine his legal and judicial status.
