Authorities confirmed the arrest of Alejandro “N”, who identified himself as an active member of the Sinaloa Cartel, while travelling on a highway connecting the municipalities of Yajalón and Chilón.
The operation unfolded during routine preventive patrols coordinated by local security agencies alongside the Fiscalía General de la República and state prosecutors. Units from the specialized Grupo Dragón and the state guard successfully blocked the passage of the blue sedan vehicle without license plates in which the suspect was traveling.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle and its occupant, law enforcement officers recovered military-grade weaponry and various packaged illicit substances. The items confiscated by the authorities during the search included:
- - One M4 semi-automatic firearm equipped with a loaded magazine containing eight live 5.56 mm rounds.
- - 70 small nylon bags containing dried green herb identified as marijuana.
- - 8 small nylon bags containing a white powder substance identified as cocaine.
Following the verification of the vehicle's serial numbers in official national databases, officers determined that the Nissan Versa sedan had an active theft report filed in the state of Nayarit. During preliminary questioning at the scene, Alejandro “N” stated his allegiance to the Sinaloa Cartel criminal organization.
Local community members noted an increased police presence in the area, expressing hope that coordinated patrols will help reduce localized crime along regional transit corridors. Both the detainee and all seized items were transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office to process legal proceedings and establish criminal liability in the coming hours.
