A video recorded by Lucas Candido, a Brazilian volunteer serving with the Ukrainian military forces, captured the moment a Russian missile detonated inside the apartment building where he was staying in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The footage recorded by Candido begins shortly after air raid sirens sounded across the residential area. Seconds after the alarm, the distinctive sound of an incoming missile is heard, immediately followed by a heavy explosion that impacted the structure of the building.
According to information reported by Brazilian journalist Renato Souza, Candido and four other Brazilian citizens who were inside the facility survived the attack. The group sustained only minor or no serious injuries despite the destruction caused by the blast, and they were subsequently relocated to a safer location.
The strike aligns with recent military bombardments targeting civilian and residential infrastructure in Kharkiv, where recent attacks have resulted in civilian fatalities and dozens of wounded individuals.
This incident underlines the continuous risks faced by foreign volunteers participating in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where official records indicate multiple casualties, deaths, and disappearances among foreign citizens since the escalation of hostilities.
