Seven individuals were taken into custody following a violent confrontation with law enforcement officials during an urban space recovery operation in the Historic Center of Mexico City, according to official reports released on October 7, 2026.
The Secretary of Security Ciudadana (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana), Pablo Vázquez Camacho, announced through social media that the arrests stemmed from an operation designed to clear improperly parked motorcycles along Motolinía and Madero streets within the Cuauhtémoc borough.
During the execution of the clearance protocol, a group of individuals confronted and assaulted two Traffic Control officers as well as a private security guard who attempted to intervene during the altercation.
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene to provide immediate care. One of the traffic officers and the private security guard sustained injuries that necessitated their transfer to a medical facility for specialized evaluation and treatment.
The seven suspected aggressors were immediately detained by authorities and subsequently transferred to the Public Ministry, where legal proceedings will determine their formal status and continue the ongoing investigation into the assault.
